Georgette Rodgers Giles, age 68, of Westover, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 20, 2020.
She was born April 30, 1952 in Monongalia County, and was raised in Westover. She was the daughter of the late George Arell Rodgers and the late Glada Lauene (Lyons) Rodgers.
In addition to her parents, Georgette was preceded in death by her husband Theodore “Ted” Mason Giles; and her sister-in-law Jewelissa May Pyke.
She is survived by her two children, Matthew Christopher Giles of Morgantown, and Jonathan Mason Giles and his wife Jessica of Morgantown; two grandchildren, Macy and Roman Giles; a brother, Mark Arell Rodgers and his wife Diane of Dallas, TX, and an aunt, Blanche Groves and her husband Kenneth of Morgantown. Additionally, she is survived by her niece, Ciji Lynn Revolta of Houston, TX, as well as many other cousins, nieces and nephews.
Georgette graduated from Morgantown High School, Class of 1970. She was a Mohiganette and was a member of the band - playing the clarinet. She graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree with an emphasis on Education.
She retired from the Monongalia County School System where she was a Librarian and worked in the Special Education Department.
Throughout her life, Georgette loved to read, sing, attending church and working crossword puzzles. She was always eager to learn, spending countless hours researching various subjects.
Friends may join the family to honor Georgette's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown on Friday, May 22nd from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and again on Saturday, May 23rd from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Dan Meadows officiating. She will be laid to rest with her husband at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
