Vera Catherine Hertzog, age 70, of Morgantown gained her angel wings shortly after midnight on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 in the comfort of her home and with her family who loved her dearly.
She was born May 2, 1949 in Morgantown, WV and was a daughter of the late Edward Lee and Edith Pearlene (McDonald) Hertzog.
Vera is survived by her siblings, her caregiver Joyce Hammack and husband Bud with whom she made her home for the past 20 years, Freda “T” Hines and husband Bill, Kathy King, Helen Tichenor and husband Mike (“my brother-in-law!”), and Terry Hertzog; a special sister-in-law Ruby “Boobie” Hertzog as well as several nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents Charles and Nannie McDonald and Fred and Verna Hertzog, a brother, Larry Hertzog as well as a special nephew, Jason Hammack .
Vera loved life and spending time with her nieces and nephews. She loved Elvis Presley music, shopping and spending time with all her loved ones. She attended PACETEC for several years. Vera will be sadly missed by her family and everyone who knew her.

Friends may join the family to honor Vera’s life and legacy at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown beginning Thursday, December 19th at 2:00 PM and continuing until the time of her funeral service on Friday, December 20th at 1:00 PM officiated by Chaplain Craig Falkenstine. Following the funeral service, Vera will be laid to rest with her family at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
