Larry Leroy Hertzog, Sr., 70, of Summers School Rd., Morgantown, passed away Friday afternoon, December 1, 2017 at his residence following an extended illness. Larry was in the company of his family, whom he loved very much.

He was born Feb. 7, 1947 in Morgantown, a son of the late Edward and Edith McDonald Hertzog.

Larry is survived by his wife, Ruby Mae Davis Hertzog; his children Larry Hertzog, Jr., Adam Hertzog and wife Melissa and Kevin Hertzog; a grandson, Brandon Hertzog, his girlfriend Jayla and soon to be great-granddaughter Mallorie; his siblings, Vera C. Hertzog, Freda Hines and husband Bill, Joyce Hammack and husband Bud, Kathy King, Terry Hertzog and wife Barbara, and Helen Tichenor and husband Mike, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Nannie McDonald and Fred and Verna Hertzog; and a nephew, Jason Hammack.

Larry was a proud West Virginia Coal Miner who retired with 38 years of service. He was a devoted family man who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Friends may join the family to honor Larry’s life and legacy at Nicholson Chapel Church, Summers School Rd., Morgantown beginning at 4 PM Monday, December 4th and continuing until the 1 PM funeral service on Tuesday, December 5th in the church with Pastor Damon Nicholson officiating. He will be laid to rest at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
