John George Kline, 77 of Morgantown passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.

He was born March 22, 1940 in Davis, West Virginia, a son of the late William and Cleo Snyder Kline.

John was a 1958 graduate of Mountaineer High School and a 1962 graduate of West Virginia University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

He served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during active duty. His career included work at Alcan Aluminum, Mon Power Company, Consol Coal Company (Loveridge Mine) and Nations, Inc. where he retired in 2004.

He was a member of Suncrest United Methodist Church and Suncrest Kiwanis. He enjoyed playing in his garden, Mountaineer sports and visiting with his many lifelong friends at annual “Ramp Camp” held in Tucker County each summer.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Judy Kline; two brothers, William Kline and Carl Kline; and a sister, Helen Knotts.

He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Kline McMann and husband Bill of Flower Mound, Texas, and Shelly Kline Quance and husband Dan of Morgantown. He took great joy in being Poppy to his three grandchildren, Allison Stump, Connor McMann and Corey McMann.

He is also survived by his sister-in-law Gaylona Kline of Morgantown; two nieces, Susan Kline Jackson of Morgantown and Terry Duckworth of Keyser; and a nephew, Bill Kline of Conneaut, Ohio, as well as several great-nieces and a great-nephews.

Friends may join the family to honor John's life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Morgantown on Sunday, November 26th from 1-3 & 5-7 PM and again on Monday, November 27th from 11 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 Noon with Rev. Tim Halloran, Pastor of Suncrest United Methodist Church officiating. 

Following the funeral service, John's wishes for cremation will be honored by his family. Inurnment will take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved wife, Judy.
